Bairrada is a small, narrow coastal region in Portugal's Beira Litoral Province with a DOC classification. It is particularly renowned for its deep colored, tannic red wines and for producing about two-thirds of the national sparkling wine production. The region's spotlight variety is Baga, a highly acidic and tannic grape used for both red and sparkling wines.
